In addition to medical, this insurance also provides trip cancellation, delay, and interruption protection plus coverage for your personal belongings.

What are the benefits?

The key benefits of U.S. visitors travel medical insurance is that it protects you against high out-of-pocket expenses if you require medical treatment while traveling to the United States. Visitors insurance will generally cover any new medical conditions, injuries or accidents that may occur after the effective date of the policy. Medical expenses are very high in the United States. Maximum Coverage Up to $8 Million

COVID-19 Illness

COVID-19 treatment will be covered just like any other eligible sickness that occurs after the effective date of the policy and while on your trip. The coverage is up to the selected policy maximum in most plans, which can vary based on the persons age and the plan selected.

Treated Like Any Other Illness

Pre-Existing Conditions

Many visitors insurance plans provide coverage for acute onset of pre-existing conditions up to certain extent for persons below a certain age. This benefit is immensely helpful for elderly visitors to the U.S. who may be suffering from pre-existing conditions. It is meant to cover sudden and unexpected emergencies and not meant to cover routine maintenance of pre-existing conditions.

Acute Onset of a Pre-Existing Condition

Emergency Medical Evacuation

In case you were to become seriously sick or injured in a remote location while on your trip, emergency medical evacuation would transport you to the nearest medical facility where adequate care can be given. Once you are stable enough to travel, it may also pay for you to return to your home country.

Maximum Coverage Up to $8 Million

Accidental Death & Dismemberment

This coverage would provide lump sum amount to you or your family if you were to become dismembered or passed away in an accident. Some plans provide coverage only while traveling in a common carrier, such as a plane, bus, or train.

Up to $100,000 Coverage

Virtual Visit/Telemedicine

Virtual Visit or Telemedicine is a remote consultation that is conducted over the internet or phone between a patient and a physician. The virtual physician or telemedicine medical provider can give the patient a plan for necessary medical treatment of their symptom or condition, and/or a referral to a nearby physician for treatment of their condition.

Finding the best travel health insurance for you and your family can be complicated and confusing, that’s why we have put together this list of frequently asked questions. If we do not answer your question here, our expert team is available below to answer any questions you might have.

Travel insurance is short-term medical insurance that would generally cover any medical conditions, injuries or accidents, that may occur after the effective date of the policy. It is primarily designed to cover unexpected and primarily new medical conditions that may usually occur to a person who is traveling abroad. In some plans, it may cover acute onset of pre-existing conditions that occur after the effective date of the policy. However, it does not cover pre-existing conditions, maternity, preventive checkups, routine visits related to pre-existing conditions, cosmetic surgery, elective surgery, birth control, immunization, dental, vision and so on.
Yes! Unlike other products on the market, there are no exclusions related to travel advisories, CDC Warnings, U.S. Department of State Warnings, or any specific exclusions related to COVID-19. Therefore, COVID-19 is covered just like any other new medical condition that occurs after the effective date of the policy. Please note that if you already have symptoms, or if you are already infected and still in the incubation period, or even asymptomatic initially, if you contracted COVID-19 before the effective date of the policy, it will NOT be covered.
Yes, you can purchase travel insurance if you have already in the U.S., but the sooner you purchase, the better, as you want to make sure your insurance will cover you for any expected illness or injury during your visit. When filling out the application, enter the “trip start date” as the date you would like your coverage to begin. Most coverage can begin as soon as the next day.
Travel medical insurance provides coverage for prescription medication for new illness and injuries. Most of the time, you will need to pay for prescriptions out of pocket and file a claim for reimbursement, so be sure to keep all receipts.
Yes, most policies provide coverage for travel throughout multiple countries worldwide. You only need to select one destination you are traveling to on the quote form. If a policy does exclude certain countries, this will be shown on the quote page.
Most travel medical plans are cancellable. Depending on the plan purchased, the cancellation terms will vary. After the policy start date, if there are no claims on file, you may be eligible for a refund. Please review the cancellation terms and conditions in your policy documents.
You can visit any doctor or hospital of your choice. Depending on what plan you have, you may have a choice of using a PPO network specific to your insurance policy.

Trip Cancellation is designed to provide you coverage in the event that you have to cancel your trip for a valid reason prior to your departure. The plan will reimburse you your pre-paid non-refundable portion of your trip cost. Trip Interruption is designed to provide you coverage in the event that you need to return home from your trip early due to covered reasons such as a house fire or the death of a close relative. The plan will help you pay for the additional expenses to make arrangements to return home early.
